they remastered the original film in 4k then downconverted to 1080p for the bluray. this is definitely going to be the best looking version of any film to date (unless they sometimes put a color hue that messes with the look of the original which kind of stinks but it is what it is (ie lord of the rings fellowship bluray has blue tint vs dvd)). tigole/hevc/hx265/HTR team rips of movies are amazing quality/size ratio from all my experiences. old movies just dont look at good bcus of a various numbers of reason but they will often look better than what else exists.
